What Does Your Auto Insurance Cover?
TRANSCRIPT:
Hi Greg Vojtanek here of Fade In Financial. Today I want to talk to you about something that we don’t like to think about, but it is important to know in the event of an auto accident.
The first thing you might know about is the coverage amounts. Now I’m just going to make up some numbers here, but it could be something like $30,000 in medical payments per person, up to $100,000 maximum for the whole accident.
Now, who is covered, though, in the event of bodily injury, hospital payments, and that kind of thing? First of all, it would be you as the insured person, assuming you are the one on the policy.
And any family member, even if the family member is the one driving. It doesn’t matter who’s at fault. But your family member would be covered under that policy as well.
Other passengers, whether they’re family members or not, would also be covered.
But a third one, which isn’t widely known, is that if you or a family member is struck by a motor vehicle, and you are a pedestrian on the sidewalk or in a public space, you’re covered under an auto insurance policy. Now this is assuming this is a vehicle that’s used for public roads and not off-roading or anything like that. But you and the family members are covered under an auto insurance policy.
So, just double-check all of your auto insurance policies, and make sure you’re comfortable with the amounts and that you’re in-the-know about who is covered. This certainly isn’t everything to consider, but I do hope you found this helpful. Thanks for watching.
