How To Invest During Political Instability
TRANSCRIPT:
Hi again, Greg Vojtanek here of Fade In Financial. Recently I was asked “How do you invest during times of political instability?”
Now there’s a lot of fear and unknowns in this country right now. So one thing that actually does bring me comfort is looking at a certain chart.
You see this chart. This is the S&P 500. The top 500 stocks in the country since its inception of 1929. Now you look at this chart. As investors, you like this chart. It goes up and to the right, something we like to see.
You’ll notice there in the background that you see red stripes and blue stripes. So let me zoom out. Now you see those red areas were times when Republicans were in office. The blue areas are times when Democrats were in office.
You look at the totality of the S&P 500 you’ll see it doesn’t really matter who’s in office at the time. The markets, for the most part, over time, tend to rise.
Now there’s no guarantees obviously. But, whenever I feel a little anxious about investments and who’s in charge of the country, I will bring up this chart and it brings me a little bit of comfort. I hope it does for you too.
As always, do what is right for you. Everyone’s situation is different. Best of luck to you. Thanks for watching.
